Haryana on high alert: Security has been increased in Haryana as a result of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) calling for a yatra on Monday despite being denied permission to hold the event. Manohar Lal Khattar, the chief minister of Haryana, declared on Sunday that the religious procession lacked authorization and asked attendees to do ‘jalabhishek’ at nearby temples instead.

The Hindu organization is now on a yatra, thus there are several police officers stationed at Haryana’s borders and checkpoints. Nearly all vehicles heading in the direction of Nuh Mewat are being stopped and inspected by state police officers. The identity cards of those residing in Nuh are also being inspected by the police.

Authorities have denied permission for the yatra.

As a precautionary measure, the Nuh district administration has already ordered the closure of educational institutions and banks on Monday, suspended mobile Internet and bulk SMS services, and imposed prohibitory orders in the communally-sensitive district.

Haryana Home Minister Anil Vij, on Monday, appealed for peace ahead of VHP’s yatra in Nuh.

AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said ‘if violence erupys in Nuh again’, BJP government of Haryana will be responsible if violence erupts in Nuh again.

He posted on X (previously Twitter), “The VHP is threatening to organise a rally against the orders of the BJP government in Haryana. Before the violence in Nuh, the government was aware that Muslims would be targeted during the procession. If one-sided legal action was not taken against the Muslims and the real culprits were not protected, the extremist ‘parishad’ and its army wouldn’t have had such audacity. It seems the BJP is helpless in front of these organised criminals.”

On VHP yatra in Nuh, Rajender, IG, South Range, Rewari said, “The Local and State Administration has denied the permission (for the yatra)…For Law & Order, force deployment has been done in the area. Section 144 has been imposed in the area…I would appeal to the people to maintain a peaceful environment through mutual understanding”

Inspector Kuldeep Singh of Haryana Police said, “Situation is peaceful here. Permission has not been granted to conduct ‘Yatra’. Only locals of Nuh are allowed to enter the district.”

On July 31, when a religious procession led by the VHP was stoned, vandalized, and police and private vehicles were set on fire, racial tensions erupted in Nuh district. The conflicts resulted in the deaths of six persons, including two house guards and a priest. Gurugram, which had previously seen isolated acts of violence, was rapidly affected by the violence.
