Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar laid the foundation stone of the Sarasvati Vatika project in Kurukshetra today.
The project is coming up near Pipli at a cost of Rs 3.68 crore and it will be completed in three phases.
In the first phase, Rs 1.90 crore will be spent on the construction of new ghats, stone pitching, laying paver blocks and checking the flow of dirty water from Bir Pipli and Khanpur drains into the river. The first phase will be completed within six months.
Vice-Chairman of the Haryana Sarasvati Heritage Development Board Dhuman Singh Kirmach said, “The development of Sarasvati Vatika near Pipli is a big project for us. The CM laid its foundation stone today. The work will be completed in a phased manner. In the second phase, parks will be developed on both sides of the river, besides installing fountains. There is also a plan to introduce boating in a small stretch of the river, besides starting evening “aarti” on the lines of Brahma Sarovar.”
