Haryana clashes: Haryana Police has arrested at least 116 people and registered around 29 FIRs late on Tuesday following communal clashes that broke out on Monday during a religious procession taken out by Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) in Haryana’s Nuh. As many as five people died in the clashes, including two home guards, a civilian and an Imam.

Meanwhile, fresh violence in gurugram on Tuesday night  put Delhi on alert. All government and private educational institutions in the Sohna sub-division of Gurugram have been ordered to remain closed on Wednesday (August 2) in view of the communal unrest in the area.

The VHP and Bajrang Dal have called for a Mahapanchayat at 4 pm on Wednesday at Bhisam Das Mandir in Manesar. The right-wing organisation will also hold a “major demonstration” in Noida on Wednesday. VHP’s publicity chief Rahul Dubey said the protest march would start from the Noida stadium in Sector 21A towards Rajnigandha Chowk in Sector 16, where an effigy would be burnt.

Haryana’s Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala blamed the organisers of the religious procession (carried out by VHP) for the violence. He said, “The organisers of the yatra did not give complete information to the administration, due to which such a big incident took place.”

In the wake of the ongoing communal tensions, the Gurugram district magistrate banned the sale of loose diesel and petrol at fuel stations across the district. “All fuel stations operating in Gurugram have been strictly prohibited from selling loose petrol/diesel to any person with immediate effect,” the tweet read.
