Kiran Patel was arrested by the Jammu and Kashmir Police last month from a five-star hotel in Srinagar for allegedly posing as ‘Additional Secretary’ in the Central government and enjoying security cover, besides other hospitality.
A Gujarat Police team brought thug Kiran Patel from Jammu and Kashmir to Ahmedabad on Saturday. Kiran Patel was arrested for allegedly posing as a senior official of the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
An official said that, Patel was handed over to the Gujarat Police on Thursday afternoon after his request for his custody was granted by the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in Srinagar.
The officials said Patel was brought from Srinagar by road to the Ahmedabad crime branch headquarters in the early hours of Saturday. Four FIRs related to cheating have been registered against Patel in different police stations of Gujarat. One of which has been registered by the Ahmedabad crime branch for trying to capture a bungalow of a senior citizen.

He was on his third visit to the Kashmir Valley when he was caught on March 3 by alert security officials. Patel claimed to have been ordered by the government to identify buyers of apple orchards in South Kashmir.
Subsequently, the Ahmedabad Crime Branch on March 22 registered a case of cheating against him and his wife Malini Patel for allegedly trying to grab a bungalow of a senior citizen. Malini Patel was recently arrested and a team of Ahmedabad Crime Branch went to J&K a few days ago to take Kiran Patel into custody.
