Several members of Gujjar and Bakarwal community in Poonch on Wednesday congratulated the Pahari community of the region on getting ST status through Jammu and Kashmir) Scheduled Tribes Order (Amendment) Bill, 2024 passed by the Lok Sabha yesterday.
The former tribes of the region have expressed happiness for Paharis who have also been given ST status.
“I want to thank PM Modi and Home Minister Minister Amit Shah and also want to thank J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina for providing ST status to Paharis.
“The three communities which lives in Poonch are all equal and the Paharis have got their right they haven’t snatched anyone’s. We have nothing against them”, a man belonging to Gujjar community said.
“I thank God that the demand of Rajouri & Poonch people have been fulfilled which they have been raising since independence.
“The former govts have used Pahari community only as vote bank they didn’t felt the pressing need of Paharis. I say kudos to BJP for granting ST to Paharis”, another man
