On the direction of the court, Kiran was assigned to a Gujarat Police team to investigate the case registered at the Ahmedabad crime branch.
Last month, the Gujarat-based man was arrested by the Srinagar police, who allegedly posed as Additional Director (Strategy and Operations) in the PMO office.

The Gujarat Police on Monday handed over the custody of Kiran Bhai Patel to the Srinagar Police for further investigation against him.
According to sources, the high-profile case was handed over to Nishat police station in Srinagar on Monday after the Gujarat Police completed the investigation.
Kiran Bhai Patel will be sent to Central Jail Srinagar.
He was arrested from a hotel in Srinagar on a specific input received by the CID wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police. Kiran Bhai Patel has duped the gullible people by resorting to fraud, forgery and impersonation.
The impostor had tricked the J&K administration and security setup by securing Z-plus security cover, a bulletproof Mahindra Scorpio SUV, official accommodation in a five-star hotel and much more.
As per the report, Kiran Bhai Patel who was able to obtain security from J&K Police through fraudulent means was staying in room number 1107 in Lalit Hotel.
The fraudster had visited several places in Kashmir including Budgam District in central Kashmir, Gulmarg, the Line of Control (LoC) in Baramulla and Dudpathri. The J&K Police had constituted a three-member team headed by SP East Srinagar to investigate the case against Kiran Bhai Patel of Gujarat.
The J&K Home Department also launched an inquiry and appointed Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, IAS, Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir as the Investigating Officer to probe Kiran Patel’s visits to Kashmir during the past months and various aspects related to security arrangements.
