Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rakesh Minhas today flagged off a batch of 100 famers for One day Interstate Exposure visit to Regional Research Station, Gurdaspur, Punjab under “Promotion of Oil Seeds” programme being implemented by Agriculture Production and Farmers’ Welfare department.
Chief Agriculture Officer, Sanjeev Rai and other officers and officials of Agriculture Department were also present.
At the Flagging off ceremony, the DC Kathua said such exposure visit helps farmers to acquaint themselves with new farming techniques besides providing them an opportunity to get in depth knowhow of latest agricultural practices. He said the idea of sending farmers to Punjab Agriculture University was to keep them abreast with the latest technological upgrading in the field of Agriculture. He urged farmers to take full benefit of such visits by adopting learned techniques in their respective areas. He appreciated the Department of Agriculture Production and Farmers Welfare Kathua for their handholding efforts by organizing such exposure visits.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Agriculture Officer said the agriculture department is making relentless efforts for raising farm productivity, reach out to the farming community by organizing different programs and events. He said the specificity of this visit was the participation of more than 50 women farmers and entrepreneurs from the District which he said will help in empowering women farmers.
AEO, H.Q. Ravi Chohan, AEO Kathua Parmod Kumar, JAEO Ravinder Pal Singh, AEA Nipun Mahajan, AEA Naresh Sangral, Nodal Officers, Women Self Help Groups Kathua Shivali Sharma and Pooja Andotra also accompanied the farmers.
