Govt employees complain of unofficial extended working hours in J-K
Resentment is brewing among government employees of various departments over the unofficial extension of working hours in contravention of the official timings stipulated by the government.
The employees from various departments said that the designated work hours are from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm, but they are being compelled to work from 10 am to 5 or 5:30 pm causing inconvenience to them.
The employees mostly females pointed fingers at the heads of departments for not adhering to the officially sanctioned working hours. “We reach our homes in late hours after (Magrib) evening prayers, and this extended work schedule is taking a toll on our work-life balance,” a female employee said.
The employees urged the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri to intervene into the matter and issue strict instructions to the heads of departments to adhere strictly to the official working hours set by the government.
