Har Ghar Tiranga in J&K: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha set off the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ procession from the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) to the Botanical Garden on the bank of Dal Lake in Kashmir’s Srinagar on Sunday morning, ahead of Independence Day. Sinha can be seen leading the protest with the Indian flag in his hand in a video uploaded by the news agency ANI, while those taking part can be heard yelling ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rally is held under the auspices of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ to encourage people to bring the flag home and fly it to commemorate India’s 76th year of independence.
The campaign also saw a wide range of activities take place throughout 26 Panchayats in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. On Saturday, the District Youth Services and Sports Office (DYSSO) in Ganderbal organised a variety of engaging events under the overall theme of ‘Meri Maati, Mera Desh’, including a bright ‘Prabhat Pheri’ (morning parade) in Zone Kangan.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked Indians to take part in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ rallies from August 13 to 15. He invited people to send images of themselves with the Tiranga to the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ website, claiming that the Indian flag represents the “spirit of freedom.”
“The Tiranga symbolises the spirit of freedom and national unity. Every Indian has an emotional connect with the Tricolour and it inspires us to work harder to further national progress,” he posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.
