“Gold, Cash, and Jewelry Stolen from Telangana Deputy Chief Minister’s Residence”

Two people have been arrested in connection with a theft at Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu’s home and cash worth Rs 2.2 lakh, gold biscuit and foreign currency were recovered from them.

The suspects, identified as Roshan Kumar Mandal and Uday Kumar Thakur from Bihar, were caught at Kharagpur Railway Station in West Bengal after the railway police noticed their suspicious behaviour on the platform during a routine search.Authorities recovered stolen goods from the accused, including Rs 2.2 lakh in cash, 100 grams of gold biscuit and foreign currency comprising British pounds, UAE dirhams, and Swiss francs. According to the police, the theft occurred when Vikramarka was abroad on an official trip.

Railway Police officer Debasree Sanyal said that additional stolen items like silver utensils and pearl jewellery were also recovered from the suspects, suggesting their involvement in multiple thefts.

During questioning, the accused admitted to their crime. Following their confessions, the West Bengal Police informed their counterparts in Telangana about the matter.

An investigation was on to determine whether more individuals were involved in the crime.
