Srinagar, May 16: BJP Spokesperson for Jammu & Kashmir UT, Gaurav Gupta, met with Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan, Srinagar, and presented a detailed memorandum of demands focusing on the urgent need for relief measures to support industrial and trade activities in Jammu, as well as assistance for residents affected by cross-border shelling.
Gaurav Gupta expressed serious concern over the worsening conditions for Jammu’s businesses, citing a significant loss of labor due to migration, disrupted supply chains, and decreased market demand. These issues have threatened the survival of many industrial units and trading establishments.
He requested the immediate release of pending GST refunds of almost ₹20 crore stuck in the Gandhi Nagar Treasury, stating that this is crucial for providing liquidity to prevent the financial collapse of many small and medium enterprises.
He also called for facilitating interest subvention and Working Capital Demand Loans (WCDL) through J&K Bank, similar to the COVID-era support, to help struggling industrialists manage their liabilities and operations.
Gupta noted that the business community is vital to Jammu’s economy and expressed hope that under LG Sinha’s leadership, prompt action would be taken to revive the industrial sector. He also highlighted the urgency of relief measures for border residents affected by unprovoked Pakistani shelling, appealing for financial support for them, business members, and hoteliers. LG Sinha assured Gupta that he would consider the concerns raised for necessary action.
