Frasipora: Security forces retrieved body of neutralised terrorist

Security forces on Thursday (April 11)  retrieved body of the neutralised terrorist in Frasipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

An encounter broke  out between terrorists and security forces Thursday (April 11) early mornin and after a fierce gun battle the terrorist was shot down in Frasipora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

A police officer said that that during early hours an information was received about presence of some terrorists in the Frasipora village. However, when the joint team of army and J&K police intensified the searches towards the suspected spot, the concealed terrorists opened fire on the posse and encounter started.

The identity of the terrorist is being ascertain and the army have also recovered arms, ammunition from his possession.

DGP RR Swain said last year  in a press conference that a total of 76 terrorists, including 55 foreigners, were killed in anti-terrorism operations in J&K last year. Against 31 targeted attacks on civilians in 2022, this year saw 14 such incidents.

A data further revealed that a total of 111 terrorists are currently active in Jammu and Kashmir, including 40 local terrorists and 71 foreign terrorists. As per a data, 137 terrorists were active in Jammu and Kashmir last year.

The terrorists were killed in a joint operations carried out by the Army, Police, SSB, Border Security Force (BSF), and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) at different places in Jammu and Kashmir.

In 2022, of the 187 terrorists killed by the forces, nearly 57 were of foreign origin while the remaining 130 were from Kashmir itself, the source added.

The number of active terrorists was 135 in 2022, with nearly 85 of them of foreign origin while 50 were local terrorists, the sources said.
