Srinagar, January 23 (Gulistan News TV) : A high-risk forest fire alert has been issued for the Kashmir region by the Forest Survey of India, warning of increased fire risks from January 23 to January 30, 2025.
In response, the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, who also serves as the Chairman of the Divisional Disaster Management Authority, has directed immediate action to prevent any incidents.
In an official communiqué, the Divisional Commissioner’s office stated, “It is crucial that everyone, particularly those in fire-prone areas, are made aware of the current risks and proactive measures are taken to prevent any incidents.”
The directive emphasizes the importance of public awareness, urging authorities to use all available platforms, including social media, local media and community meetings to inform citizens about the risks. Residents have been advised to avoid open flames, report any signs of fire promptly and stay vigilant during this period.
Further, it instructed field staff, forest workers and emergency responders to be on high alert, stating, “Ensure that all forest staff, local authorities and emergency responders are notified and briefed on the current fire risk. They should be prepared with firefighting equipment and ready to take action if necessary.”
