Srinagar, June 3 (Gulistan News): On the eve of Eid, the Food Safety Team Srinagar carried out a special drive to ensure the availability of safe and quality food products in the market. Intensive inspections were conducted across various areas of the city, including Zanakot Industrial Area, Shaltang, Lal Bazar and Hazratbal.
During the drive, approximately 110 kgs of expired ghee was seized from a manufacturing unit in Zanakot Industrial Area. Officials confirmed that a case will be registered against the Food Business Operator (FBO) under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The department has warned all Food Business Operators, including manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers, to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act. Violators will face stringent action, which may include the closure of their facilities.
“The quality of food products will not be compromised under any circumstances. Ensuring public health is our priority,” an official from the Food Safety Department said.
The department has assured regular inspections across Srinagar to ensure compliance with food safety regulations. Consumers have also been urged to remain cautious while purchasing food items and report any suspicious products to the department.
