Srinagar, Mar 21 : A blaze broke out on Friday evening at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar that engulfed a CRPF guard room inside the complex.

The blaze was witnessed at 7:07 PM, which resulted in a quick response from several Fire & Emergency Services (F&ES) stations, such as the Brain, Gowkadal, Nehru Park, and the F&ES Headquarters Command in Srinagar, an official told .

The blaze, according to IC Brian, had consumed the CRPF guard room but is now under control. Fire personnel acted swiftly and were able to put a check on the fire, placing an effective restriction on its spread to other areas of the high-security complex.

Fortunately, there were no casualties and the authorities are evaluating the damages. The cause of the blaze has been initiated to be looked into, with initial reports of it being due to an electric short circuit.

The authorities has stated that the situation is under control now and attempts are being made to normalize the situation.
