Several farmers, Asha workers on Friday accompanied with J&K’s Communist party leader Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami held a protest outside Maharaja Hari Singh Park in Jammu city and commented on the ongoing peasant’s ‘Delhi Chalo’ march supported by various peasant’s organisations.

Talking to the reporters, Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami, said, “The farmers are staging a protest in the country today. The Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) and other organisations, trade unions and other platforms have given a call to tell govt that we don’t need fake promises and the time has come to fulfill the promises made by them”.

He added: “Inflation has broken spine of labourers, peasants, employees due to which they have no earnings. The Asha workers and Anganwadi workers are still in distressed as how they are spending lives on meagre wages. The peasants’ are forced to commit suicide as they’re not getting compensation for their crops, which was recommended by Swaminathan commission”.

He further added: : The PM promised that the Swaminathan’s report will be implemented but the people are only getting ‘jumlas’ and no promise have been fulfilled. There is only rhetoric and lies are being spread through televisions.

“The farmers and labourers are on roads just to say this is our country and the seniors have given sacrifice for this land. If govt has money to pay compensation to billionaires then why the govt is hesitating to clear pigmy debts of farmers. The labour laws have also been repealed and the workers are working for 12 hours instead of 8 in factories”, he stressed.

“All the trade unions, federations, Kisan Morcha which compelled this govt to bow down after a thirteen month long struggle are on the roads. We’re not going to tolerate the violence against Srinagar farmers. We are not scared as the masses forms the govts. The govt shouldn’t ignore the peasant’s demands because it will prove good for the regime”, he said.
