The European Union is set to fine Apple about 500 million euros ($539 million) over alleged breaches of EU competition law, the sources reported on Sunday.
The fine is expected to be announced early next month, the sources said.
Last year, the European Commission accused Apple distorting competition in the music streaming market via App Store rules that prevent developers from informing users of other purchasing options.
Apple did not respond immediately to a request for comment outside office hours.
Apple, when contacted for comment, referred to a previous statement, which said that the “App Store has helped Spotify become the top music streaming service across Europe.” The European Commission declined to comment, sources reported.
