Handwara, June 5, 2025 — The Jammu & Kashmir Forest Department, Langate Forest Division, Range Rajwar celebrated World Environment Day with great enthusiasm at Puj Kaber, Handwara, bringing together a dynamic mix of students, teachers, civil society members, and forest officials for a meaningful and inspiring event.

Officials including the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) Langate, Range Officers, Block Officers, and frontline forest staff actively participated in the program. Students from AIIMS Handwara and Hill Grange School Handwara added vibrancy to the occasion with their active engagement.

The celebration focused on raising environmental consciousness and promoting sustainable living practices. As part of the event, the department conducted a cleanliness drive and launched a mass awareness campaign, both aimed at fostering public responsibility towards nature and conservation.

In their addresses, the DFO Langate and Range Officer Rajwar emphasized the urgent need to eliminate single-use plastics and encouraged the revival of traditional, eco-friendly practices. “Let us return to our roots, adopt eco-conscious habits, and act as responsible stewards of nature,” the DFO urged, inspiring participants to embrace greener lifestyles.
