Enforcement team assaulted at Nuh mining site

Villagers have assaulted a Haryana Enforcement Bureau team that had gone to stop illicit mining in Luhinga Kalan village in Nuh, and freed a JCB machine from its custody.

An FIR was registered against the village sarpanch, JCB owner and 15 others at Punhana police station.

 

In 2023, the Haryana regime had set up the State Enforcement Bureau to stop illegal mining, liquor peddling, electricity and water burglary and for removal of encroachments on government properties.
As many as eight police stations are functioning across Haryana under the State Enforcement Bureau.

The police said sub-inspector Karan Singh, posted at Haryana Enforcement Bureau, Nuh and his team raided the village on Monday late evening. During the raid, the team took possession of a tractor and a JCB machine.

After some time, villagers reached the spot and created ruckus after allegedly being instigated by village sarpanch Salim. They managed to free the JCB machine from the custody of the team, while police confiscated the tractor.

Following a complaint of sub-inspector Karan Singh, an FIR was registered against Salim, JCB driver Akbar and others under IPC sections 147 (riots), 149 (unlawful assembly), 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public function), 332 (voluntarily causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty), 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant) on Tuesday.

“All the accused, including the village sarpanch, are on the run. Hideouts of the accused are being raided and they will be arrested soon,” said inspector Arvind Kumar, SHO of Punhana police station.

In 2023, the Haryana Government had set up the State Enforcement Bureau (SEB) to stop illegal mining, liquor smuggling, electricity and water theft and for removal of encroachments on government properties. Eight police stations are functioning across Haryana under the SEB.
