10 February (Gulistan News TV): In response to the escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, Egypt is set to host an emergency Arab League summit on February 27. The decision follows extensive high-level consultations among Arab nations, including Palestine, to address the dire situation in the region. The summit will bring together leaders from the Arab world to discuss urgent measures concerning the ongoing Israeli offensive and the worsening conditions for Palestinians.
According to a statement from the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting aims to formulate a unified Arab stance on the crisis and explore diplomatic efforts to halt the bloodshed in Gaza. The summit is expected to focus on humanitarian aid, ceasefire negotiations, and the broader implications of the conflict on regional stability.
Amid growing tensions, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aty has departed for the United States following controversial remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding the forced displacement of Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring Jordan and Egypt.
During his visit, Abdel Aty is scheduled to hold meetings with senior U.S. officials, including members of the Biden administration and key figures in the Senate. According to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, the discussions will cover multiple aspects of U.S.-Egypt relations, including strategic cooperation, regional security, and Egypt’s concerns over recent U.S. policy statements on Gaza.
The Egyptian government has expressed serious reservations regarding any attempts to forcibly relocate Palestinians from Gaza. Cairo has reiterated its commitment to Palestinian sovereignty and the two-state solution, emphasizing that any forced displacement would be unacceptable and a violation of international law.
Recent statements made by former U.S. President Donald Trump have drawn widespread international condemnation. Trump, in a controversial declaration, stated that the United States would “take possession” of Gaza, claiming that Washington would oversee its administration, bring stability to the region, and create employment opportunities for its residents.
“I see a long-term ownership position in Gaza. We will develop it, create jobs for the people, and resettle civilians,” Trump reportedly said, implying direct U.S. involvement in the territory’s future governance.
His remarks have sparked a wave of criticism from the international community. The United Nations, along with several world leaders, has denounced the idea of forced displacement and reaffirmed support for Palestinian self-determination. Many countries have called for an immediate ceasefire and renewed diplomatic efforts toward a sustainable, two-state solution.
As tensions rise, Arab nations are intensifying their diplomatic efforts to address the crisis. Several Arab leaders have already voiced their concerns over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, calling for urgent intervention by the international community.
The upcoming summit in Egypt is expected to outline concrete steps to support Palestinians, including increased humanitarian assistance, diplomatic outreach to global powers, and legal measures to challenge any attempts of forced displacement.
With Egypt playing a central role in brokering peace efforts in the region, the world will be closely watching the outcomes of the emergency Arab League summit and Foreign Minister Abdel Aty’s discussions in Washington.
