The first human who has received an implant from brain chip startup Neuralink is recovering well, Elon Musk said.
“Initial results show promising neuron spike detection”,He posted on X.
Spikes are activity by neurons, which The National Institute of Health describes as cells that use electrical and chemical signals, which sends information to the body and brain .
The clearance to conduct its first trial to tests its implants on humans was given last year in September by the US Food And Drug Administration.
The surgical process involves a robot to surgically place a brain computer interface (BCI) implant in a region of brain that controls the intention to move, Neuralink said previously, adding its initial goal is to enable people to control a computer using their thoughts alone.
