In a recent development in the ongoing rivalry between Elon Musk and Mark Zuckerberg, Musk has implied that Zuckerberg lacks interest in Threads, a significant competitor to Twitter and a product of Meta Platforms, which Zuckerberg leads.
Musk’s statement came as a response to a Twitter user’s post featuring a screenshot of Zuckerberg’s Threads profile, revealing that the Meta CEO’s last post on the platform was made six days ago. Musk tweeted, “He doesn’t seem to care about his new product.”
The user had initially tweeted, “It has now been 6 days since the CEO of that other app has made a post. Did he give up on it already?”
Threads, developed by Meta’s Instagram team, became the fastest-growing social media app to reach 100 million users, surpassing OpenAI’s ChatGPT. It achieved this milestone within just five days of its launch on July 5.
Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual who acquired Twitter in October last year, has not shied away from making jabs at Threads. In response, Zuckerberg himself took a dig at the South African-born entrepreneur by returning to Twitter after an 11-year hiatus and posting the famous ‘Spider-Man face-off’ meme without any caption. Many interpreted this move as a playful jab aimed at the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX.
Moreover, there have been suggestions of a potential “cage fight” between the two billionaires in the future.
