A new report has claimed that Musk dethroned Parag Agrawal, who was the CEO of the company when Musk took over because he refused to ban an account, who was reportedly troubling Musk.

In a recent revelation from an upcoming book titled “Battle for the Bird” by Bloomberg’s Kurt Wagner, it has been disclosed that Elon Musk’s decision to fire Parag Agrawal, the former CEO of Twitter, stemmed from Agrawal’s refusal to block a social media account tracking Musk’s movements two years ago.

The book, set to be released on February 20, delves into Twitter’s corporate history, including Musk’s takeover in 2022 and its significant cultural impact. According to excerpts, Musk had urged Agrawal to ban “ElonJet,” a Twitter account maintained by American programmer Jack Sweeney, which monitored Musk’s carbon footprint. Agrawal’s refusal allegedly prompted Musk to purchase Twitter stock and eventually acquire the company, leading to Agrawal’s dismissal.

Reports from early 2022 indicate that Musk had initially offered Sweeney $5,000 to cease his tracking activities, which Sweeney countered with a request for $50,000 or an internship.

ElonJet was later banned after a stalker allegedly targeted a vehicle carrying Musk’s two-year-old son. Musk announced legal action against Sweeney and supporting organizations via Twitter.

The book suggests that Musk’s interaction with Twitter, including Agrawal’s dismissal, was instrumental in his decision to pursue ownership of the platform. Musk eventually acquired Twitter for $44 million in October 2022 after failed attempts to join its board of directors.

In March 2022, Musk reportedly expressed his belief that Agrawal was not the “fire-breathing dragon” Twitter needed, indicating a desire for a more assertive leadership style within the company.
