ED grills Bhupinder Singh Hooda in Manesar land acquisition case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda in connection with a land deal case. He was reportedly questioned for several hours by the agency, sources said.

The ED is said to have recorded Hooda’s statement at its office under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The probe originates from a CBI FIR registered earlier over alleged irregularities in land acquisition at Manesar during 2004-07.

The PMLA case was filed in September 2016 on the basis of a Haryana Police FIR. According to the ED, several farmers and land owners had alleged that they were cheated to the tune of about Rs 1,500 crore in the land acquisition case, official sources said.
