EC to announce Lok Sabha election schedule

The Election Commission (EC) will announce the schedule of Lok Sabha election at 3pm on Saturday.

The poll panel took to X, formerly Twitter, and said that it will hold a press conference tomorrow announce schedule for general elections 2024 and some state assemblies.
“Press conference by Election Commission to announce schedule for general elections 2024 & some state assemblies will be held at 3pm tomorrow ie March 16.

The term of the present Lok Sabha ends on June 16 and a new House has to be constituted before that.

Earlier on Wednesday, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar said that the poll body will decide on holding Lok Sabha polls and assembly elections together or separately in Jammu and Kashmir after reviewing the security situation.
Both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress have so far released two lists of candidates for the Lok Sabha polls.

The Election Commission on Thursday uploaded electoral bonds data as shared by the State Bank of India (SBI), on its website. Donors to political parties through electoral bonds include Grasim Industries, Megha Engineering, Piramal Enterprises. Apollo Tyres, Lakshmi Mittal, Edelweiss, PVR, Keventer, Sula Wine, Welspun, Sun Pharma among buyers of electoral bonds. Last time, the Lok Sabha polls were announced on March 10 and held in seven phases.
