On Wednesday morning, a collision between two Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses took place on Sansad Marg in Delhi, resulting in injuries to a total of six individuals, including drivers and conductors. The incident occurred around 11:15 am at the Police Station Parliament Street, as stated by the police.
The collision caused passengers to be thrown off their seats, resulting in multiple injuries. One of the drivers suffered a leg fracture. The primary impact of the collision was on the drivers, according to a local eyewitness named Jagpal Singh.
The buses involved in the accident were identified as DTC Bus No. DL 1PC 8424 and DL 1PC 7393.
The individuals who sustained injuries were identified as follows: Sandeep Kumar (43 years old, bus driver), Rupesh Kumar (31 years old, passenger), Md. Tanvir (48 years old, passenger), Jagdeep Singh (30 years old, conductor), Sanjay Kumar (48 years old, bus driver), and Rahul (32 years old, conductor).
Singh mentioned that one of the buses had approximately 10-15 people on board, while the other had seven to eight passengers. The collision occurred when a motorcyclist abruptly cut in front of one of the buses, causing it to veer into the path of the other. This led to the collision between the two buses. Singh clarified that the bus drivers were not at fault and that the buses were traveling at a normal speed. He also noted that if the buses had been traveling at a higher speed, the extent of damage and injuries would have been much worse.
Additionally, Singh shared that one of the buses remained operational even after the accident. Bystanders at the scene helped reverse the bus to facilitate the rescue of the drivers, who were then taken to the hospital. The local police force also provided assistance during this process.
The Delhi police announced on Wednesday that they were taking legal action in response to the incident.
