Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Budgam Police arrested a drug peddler and recovered huge quantity of contraband substance from his possession.
During naka checking at Nowpora Chadoora,
Police party of Police Station Chadoora intercepted one person carrying a nylon bag roaming in suspicious condition. During search of the nylon bag carried by him, contraband substance *Poppy Straw* weighing about *18 Kgs* was recovered from his possession. He was arrested on spot and subsequently identified as *Riyaz Ahmad Ahanger Son of Ghulam Mohiudin resident of Watakalo Charar shareef*. After sustained questioning, on his disclosure 08 more nylon bags containing Poppy Straw weighing about *125 Kgs* were recovered from deserted shed located at Nowpora Chadoora.
Case FIR number *65/2023* under relevant sections of NDPS Act stands registered against the accused person at Police Station Chadoora and investigation taken up.
