Drivers Association Calls for Strike in Rajouri
Aman Zutshi
Jammu: Public transports of all types in the Rajouri city are likely to remain off the road on Sunday as All Drivers Association Rajouri has called for a bandh in protest against their pending demands.
“We have been constantly trying since a decade to bring the attention of former and successive govts to the problem of drivers in Rajouri. However, even BJP has done nothing in this regard”, one of the protestors said.
“Drivers have been thrashed, abused but don’t get any justice. We want Rs 20 lakh compensation for drivers who get killed in mishaps, Rs 10 lakh for those who become handicaps and pensions for their wives”, he added.
“Our so many protestors have gone to Delhi to address our demands but we are taking out this rally to show our strength and angst here.
“We will also observe a bandh and people will starve if we don’t drive vegetables, fruits laden trucks and we work 36 hours continuously.
“We request road and transport minister to pay attention to our demands”, another protestor said.
