Driver arrested for Bus Overloading in Ramban

National Highway Traffic police  Ramban seized an overloaded passenger bus and arrested its driver for endangering the lives of passengers on Srinagar- Jammu National Highway.

The overloaded bus was carrying 58 passengers against the allotted seating capacity of 38 passengers from Ramban to Jammu illegally and in violation of the Motor Vehicle Act. DSP Traffic Police National Highway Iftikhar Ahmed and DTI, Ramban traffic intercepted a Jammu-bound passenger Bus bearing registration number JK02 BJ- 3671,said official sources. The driver of the bus identified as Noor Alahi son of Chiragdin was arrested for endangering human lives, they added.

“A case, FIR Number 12 of 2024 under sections 336 IPC & 194 Motor Vehicle Act was registered at Police Station Chanderkote, Senior Superintendent of Traffic Police National Highway Ramban,” Rohit Baskotra said.

Rohit Baskotra said :”Besides strict action against Motor Vehicle Act Violators in the year 2023, the Traffic Police National Highway will continue its drive in the year 2024.”

He further added 2517 vehicles had been Challaned for different Motor Vehicles Act Violations in the first ten days. Recommendations were made for the suspension of six Registration Certificates (RCs) of vehicles for violation of the Motor Vehicle Act. List of violators have been published in newspapers whose traffic violation challans are pending in different courts. people are requested to clear the same immediately otherwise the next course of action will be initiated.
