Senior Congress leader Dr. Karan Singh expressed serious concern on Thursday over the recent terrorist attacks in the Jammu region, urging authorities to maintain a robust security mechanism for effective and unified control in the face of militancy. In a statement, Dr. Karan Singh remarked that the series of terrorist incidents in Jammu is alarming. He expressed confidence that civilian and military authorities are diligently pursuing efforts to apprehend the militants swiftly. Dr. Karan Singh also suggested reinforcing the overall security setup in Jammu division.
“I have a suggestion for Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. For many years, Jammu Division was under the Nagrota Corps, whose headquarters are just thirty miles away from Jammu. However, some years ago, for reasons not entirely clear, Jammu Division was moved from Nagrota and placed under Western Command in Chandigarh, over 200 miles away,” Dr. Karan Singh stated. “I believe reverting to the previous arrangement would ensure better and integrated control of the region in the context of the prevailing militant environment,” he concluded.
