Srinagar, Feb 13: The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has set a deadline for the completion of ongoing construction work at Eidgah Srinagar, ensuring that the historic prayer ground is fully prepared before Eid-ul-Fitr. Chairperson of the Board, Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, conducted a detailed inspection of the site, reiterating the Waqf Board’s commitment to maintaining the Eidgah in a well-organized and aesthetically pleasing condition.

During her visit, Dr. Andrabi was accompanied by Waqf Board Member Syed Mohammad Hussain, senior officials from the Board, and government representatives. She directed the concerned authorities to accelerate the pace of work to meet the fixed deadline. “Eidgah will be ready before Eid,” she assured, adding that all necessary resources are being mobilized to ensure a timely and efficient completion.

However, Dr. Andrabi clarified that holding Eid prayers at the site will be subject to the prevailing security situation and weather conditions on the day. She noted that the Waqf Board was working in coordination with the administration to assess all necessary parameters before making a final decision.

Inspection of Prominent Shrines

Alongside the Eidgah project, Dr. Andrabi also conducted a comprehensive review of renovation and infrastructural development at major shrines, including:

Hazratbal Shrine – Ensuring preparations are in place for Shab-e-Baraat and that the shrine is well-maintained for devotees.
Dastgeer Sahib Shrine – Overseeing ongoing restoration efforts to preserve its historic significance while enhancing visitor facilities.
Makhdoom Sahib Shrine – Evaluating cleanliness, sanitation, and amenities to improve the experience for worshippers.
Addressing the media during her visits, Dr. Andrabi highlighted the coordinated efforts between the Waqf Board and other government agencies responsible for hygiene, security, and infrastructure maintenance at religious sites. “We are ensuring that all necessary measures are taken to facilitate devotees, both during special occasions and on routine days,” she stated.

She emphasized that the renovation and development of these key religious sites reflect a broader initiative to enhance facilities for worshippers across Jammu and Kashmir. The Board is actively engaging with all stakeholders to streamline efforts for the upkeep and modernization of shrines and prayer grounds.

With the Waqf Board’s renewed focus on infrastructure development, devotees can expect improved facilities and enhanced management at these religious sites in the coming months.
