District Panchayat Election Officer (DPEO), Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, on Thursday chaired a meeting to review the preparedness for the revision of the panchayat electoral rolls with January 1, 2023 as the qualifying date.
Officers present in the meeting were ADC Sunderbani, Vinod Kumar Behnal; ADC Nowshera, Kartar Singh; CPO, Mohammad Khurshid; ACR, Imran Rashid Kataria; SDM Thanamandi, Vikas Dhar; ACD, Vijay Kumar; Dy DEO, Babu Ram Tandan; DIO NIC, Muzaffar Mir; BDOs; and ENT, Surjit Singh.
At the outset, Dy DEO, Babu Ram Tandan, informed attendees about the uses of forms, including Forms PER 2A, PER 2B, PER 2C, and PER 2D, during the revision process. He also informed them that six special camps would be organised during the revision period, and the Panchayat Elections Booth Level Officers would remain available at their respective booths with the requisite forms and draft electoral rolls for the guidance of the electors.
The meeting discussed in detail the preparation for the publication of the draught electoral roll at the polling station on the prescribed date. The latest and lastly updated Panchayat Electoral Roll will serve as the base for the revised Roll.
The meeting also discussed the availability of the recently updated electoral rolls and panchayat electoral rolls, as well as the roles and responsibilities of EROs, AEROs, and PEBOs during the panchayat electoral roll revision.
The District Panchayat Election Officer stressed to the concerned officers to work with added zeal and better coordination to ensure enrollment of all eligible voters in the Panchayat Electoral Roll.
He also asked the concerned officers to ensure that the panchayat electoral rolls are updated within the stipulated time in a very systematic and hassle-free manner.
