DM Doda reviews Implementation of District Environment Plan

District Magistrate Doda, Vishesh Mahajan today conducted a comprehensive review of the implementation of the District Environment Plan (DEP) here at a meeting of the District Environment Committee (DEC) held in the DC office.
The meeting centred around the assessment of the action taken by different government departments to mitigate the detrimental effects of human activities on the environment. It also delved into the ongoing Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) initiatives designed to raise awareness about the critical importance of environmental preservation.
Notable attendees included Senior Superintendent of Police, Abdul Qayoom; ADC, Dr RK Bharti; GM DIC, Idrees Lone; ACD, Phulail Singh, SE PWD, DFO Doda and Bhaderwah, CMO Doda, Div Officer PCC Doda, EO MC Doda/Bhaderwah/ Thathri and other concerned officers.
The meeting reviewed the progress made by different departments in key action areas, encompassing City Afforestation, Bio-medical waste disposal, water body restoration, creation of ponds and water bodies, enforcement guidelines for minor mineral mining, management of E-waste, Solid waste, and Industrial waste, among other pertinent issues. During the meeting, responsible officers and officials provided updates on their respective department’s progress in implementing DEP within the district.
The DM, besides directing recycling of Plastic waste in the towns and panchayats, has instructed CEO Doda to place dustbins in every school out of their own resources and encourage young minds to create valuable things out of the waste in the schools. He also instructed Block Sanitation Officers (BDOs) to ensure strict compliance of the sanitation/waste disposal plan and start charging fines for violations, including the use of banned polythene.
