Sopore 22nd March 2025: In a bid to promote legal literacy and raise awareness among students about the recent updates in criminal laws, Sopore Police organised an informative and engaging session at Degree College Hadipora Sopore. Shri Maqsood-Ul-Zaman-IPS, Deputy Inspector General of North Kashmir Range attended the programme as chief Guest which aimed at educating the youth on the significance of new criminal laws. The session was attended by several officers of Sopore Police which include Smt. Divya D-IPS, SP PD Sopore, Shri Mir Murtaza Husain, ASP PD Sopore, Dr. Shamim Ahmad, Principal Govt Degree College Hadipora, SDPO Rafiabad and other Probationary DySPs, students, faculty members, and local law enforcement officials. All the speakers provided their insights on victim centric New Criminal Laws. DIG NKR also in his address emphasized the importance of understanding the evolving legal framework and its implications on society. He explained in detail various provisions of the new criminal laws, focusing on their role in ensuring justice, enhancing public safety, and combating criminal activities. DIG NKR highlighted the need for youth to be aware of their legal rights and responsibilities to make informed decisions and contribute positively to society. The event also provided an opportunity for students to learn about the ethical and social responsibilities of citizens in upholding the law and maintaining peace. DIG NKR concluded the session by stressing the importance of legal literacy, especially in today’s fast-paced world, where laws and regulations are continually evolving. He encouraged students to utilize the knowledge gained from the session in their daily lives and spread awareness about legal matters within their communities. This initiative forms part of a larger series of awareness programs across the region, aimed at empowering citizens with the knowledge they need to navigate the complexities of modern law and promote justice and equality for all.
