The District Institute of Education and Training (DIET) Poonch organized a Social Science Exhibition as part of a five-day Continuous Professional Development (CPD) program for teachers teaching social sciences at the elementary level. The exhibition was conducted under the aegis of Principal DIET Poonch, Anjli Gupta, and witnessed the active participation of 55 teachers representing 11 zones of Poonch district.
The exhibition showcased innovative working models created by teachers on topics aligned with elementary-level social science curricula, including the layers of the earth, layers of the atmosphere, the solar system, natural resources, fundamental rights, and Mughal history etc. These models embodied the principles of project-based learning, emphasizing experiential and inquiry-driven education as envisaged in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
During the five-day training, teachers were equipped with modern pedagogical techniques for teaching social sciences, integrating technology in education, innovative assessment methods, and project-based learning strategies. The program highlighted the importance of 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, and digital literacy, enabling educators to make social science learning more engaging and effective.
Coordinator Altaf Hussain lauded the program as a resounding success, noting that the participating teachers demonstrated enthusiasm and actively engaged throughout the training. “This CPD program not only enhanced teachers’ knowledge but also empowered them to implement NEP 2020 goals by focusing on competency-based learning and creative teaching methodologies,” he said.
The resource team for the program included experienced educators Darshan Kumar, Tariq Chugtai, Dr. Tanveer, Shagufta Andleeb, Nasreen Kouser, Manpreet Kour, and Divjot Singh.
