DGP Visits Kupwara, Inaugurates Police Buildings Honoring Police Martyrs, and Chairs Joint Security Meeting

In a significant display of respect and dedication to the valiant officers who have laid down their lives in the line of duty, the Director General of Police (DGP) J&K Dilbag Singh , made an official visit to district Kupwara. During the visit, the DGP inaugurated newly constructed police buildings that stand as a lasting tribute to the courage and sacrifice of the police martyrs. Besides the DGP along with other officers also planted saplings as a part of Meri Maati, Mera Desh celebrations under the program Azadi ka Amrit Mahautsav.

The solemn inauguration ceremony of the newly erected police buildings was held at Kandi, Drugmulla , Kupwara and Kralpora locations of the district . The DGP accompanied by ADGP Kashmir Zone Vijay Kumar, IGP Hqrs/Traffic J&K B S Tuti, DIG North Kashmir Vivek Gupta, SSP Kupwara Yougal Manhas and SP Handwara Sheema Qasba paid homage to the fallen officers by unveiling plaques bearing their names and dedications. A book dedicated in the memory of these fallen heroes was also released on the sidelines of the event. These buildings, dedicated to the memory of the police martyrs, serve as a reminder of their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the peace and security of the region.

Following the inauguration, the DGP presided over a joint security meeting that brought together key stakeholders, including Army, BSF, CRPF and representatives from various intelligence agencies. The meeting aimed to foster a collaborative approach to enhancing the security situation in the region. Discussions centered around strategies to counter emerging threats, strengthen intelligence sharing, and improve coordination among the various security forces operating in the area. SSP Kupwara Yougal Manhas and SP Handwara Sheema Qasba gave a brief on security situation of the area.

The DGP emphasized the importance of unity and synergy among all security agencies to maintain peace and stability. He lauded the dedication and hard work of the police force and reiterated the commitment to providing them with the necessary resources and support to effectively carry out their responsibilities.

At the end of the tour, the DGP also addressed officers and jawans of District Police Kupwara and IRP in DPL . He appreciated the role of District Police Kupwara in fight against terrorism and narcotics menace and impressed upon all ranks to continue doing good work.
