Devastating Fire Destroys Rafiq Medicate Shop in Baghwanpora, Lal Bazar, Srinagar – Loss in Lakhs

A devastating fire incident in Baghwanpora, Lal Bazar, Srinagar, has completely gutted the well-known Rafiq Medicate Shop, resulting in the destruction of medicines worth lakhs. The fire service was delayed in reaching the scene due to the narrow roads in the area, compounding the loss.

Residents of Baghwanpora, Lal Bazar, and Ahmad Kadal have urged the LG Administration and the local representatives, including the NC Government and MLA Tanveer Sadiq (Zadibal), to take immediate steps towards setting up an emergency fire service station within the interior of Baghwanpora. This, they believe, is crucial to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.

The Mohalla President Muhammad Shafi Mir, along with Hakim Shoib, Muhammad Shafi Ganaie, and Majid Hussain Ashraf, has collectively requested for the immediate redressal of this issue to safeguard the community from future losses.

Speaking on behalf of the community, Hakim Suhail Abbas Kashmiri, a prominent social activist from the area, expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, calling the loss “unfortunate.” He emphasized that Rafiq Medicate Shop was a vital lifeline for the entire neighborhood, providing 24/7 emergency medical services. “Mr. Rafiq was a pillar of support for the community, and this tragedy has left a void that will be hard to fill,” he added.

Hakim Suhail urged the government to provide appropriate compensation to the shop owner for the losses incurred and strongly advocated for the immediate installation of a fire emergency station in the area to prevent future incidents. He stressed the importance of prompt action from the authorities to protect the lives and livelihoods of the residents.
