DEO Kathua reviews progress of Special Summary Revision in district

The District Election Officer and Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey, chaired a meeting to review the progress of Special Summary Revision in the district.
The acting Deputy DEO briefed the chair about the revision activities. The publication of integrated draft electoral rolls will be done on April 5, 2023, with April 1, 2023, as the qualifying date. The period for filing claims and objections is from April 5 to April 20, 2023.
Under the current SSR, additions, deletions, modifications, and transfers of votes can be made by filling out prescribed forms such as form 6, form 7, and form 8 through both online and offline modes.
The DEO directed officers to conduct the SSR strictly in accordance with the Election Commission of India (ECI) guidelines and complete the process within the given timeline.
The DEO stressed the importance of maximum registration of new eligible voters and asked officers to intensify their efforts to achieve this target. Aggressive awareness activities under Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) were also emphasised, with instructions for Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) to organise registration camps and intensify SVEEP activities.
The DEO also emphasised the proactive role of Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in covering women, youngsters, and migratory populations including industrial workers. AROs were directed to involve political parties in the SSR by conducting meetings with them in their respective areas.
