Dense fog engulfs parts of North India, IMD issues poor visibility alert in 4 states

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday morning that a dense to very dense layer of fog has engulfed Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, North Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. The thick blanket of fog has resulted in poor visibility in several cities. In Delhi’s Palam, the visibility was just 25 metres as per data recorded at 5:30 am. In the Safdarjung area, the visibility was 50 metres. The weather office reported visibility levels of 25 metres in Amritsar, Ganganagar, Patiala and Lucknow. In Bhatinda, the fog was so dense that the visibility reduced to 0. The dense fog cover is likely to continue over the next few days in the Indo-Gangetic plains.
