Delhi on Tuesday recorded a minimum temperature of 9 degrees Celsius, as recorded by the Safdarjung Observatory.

According to the records, this was the lowest in five years, as the national capital earlier recorded a minimum temperature of 6.8 degrees Celsius on March 1, 2019.

The India Meteorological Department said the western Himalayan region is bracing for fresh snowfall and showers, beginning March 5, which is expected to continue until March 7.

Congenial snowfall and moderate rainfall were observed during the past days in the northern regions, particularly across Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand, with minor precipitation reported elsewhere.

The weather department also said that scattered snowfall and rainfall in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Ladakh were likely over the next four days, due to a western disturbance.

It also said Assam, Meghalaya, and other states may receive light rains.
