In preparation for the Independence Day celebrations on August 15, the Delhi Police have taken measures to ensure security in the national capital. Prohibitory orders have been issued, starting from July 22 until August 16, against the flying of sub-conventional aerial platforms, such as paragliders, drones, and hot air balloons. The decision was made due to concerns that certain individuals, described as “criminal, anti-social elements, or terrorists inimical to India,” may attempt to use these aerial platforms to threaten the safety of the public, dignitaries, and vital installations.

Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora issued an official order to this effect, stating that engaging in such activities would be punishable under Section 188 (disobedience to an order duly promulgated by a public servant) of the Indian Penal Code. The order is set to be in effect from Saturday until August 16, unless it is withdrawn earlier. The main objective is to ensure a safe and secure environment during the Independence Day period.
