AAP leader Atishi was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi on Saturday, succeeding Arvind Kejriwal, who resigned earlier this week. Atishi, a 43-year-old first-time legislator, will oversee 13 ministries, many of which she previously managed in the former government.
Notably, her predecessor, Kejriwal, did not hold any specific departments during his tenure. Atishi’s portfolio includes a diverse range of ministries:
- Public Works Department
- Power
- Education
- Higher Education
- Training & Technical Education
- Public Relations Department
- Revenue
- Finance
- Planning
- Services
- Vigilance
- Water
- Law, Justice, and Legislative Affairs
Additionally, she will manage any other portfolios not specifically allocated to other ministers. Her leadership is expected to focus on continuity and effective governance in Delhi.
Her five-member Council of Ministers was also sworn in today, including one new member. The four ministers retained from the previous government will generally continue with their existing portfolios.
Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj will oversee eight departments: 1) Urban Development, 2) Irrigation and Flood Control, 3) Health, 4) Industries, 5) Art, Culture & Language, 6) Tourism, 7) Social Welfare, and 8) Cooperative.
The social welfare and cooperative departments were earlier held by Raaj Kumar Anand, who resigned in April.
Minister Gopal Rai will manage three departments: 1) Development, 2) General Administration Department, and 3) Environment, Forest and Wildlife.
Minister Kailash Gahlot has been assigned five portfolios: 1) Transport, 2) Administrative Reforms, 3) Information Technology, 4) Home, and 5) Women and Child Development.
