Debina Bonnerjee, the actress who recently became a mother to her daughter Lianna, has opened up about her decision to undergo in vitro fertilization (IVF). After more than a decade of marriage to Gurmeet Choudhary, Debina and Gurmeet welcomed their first daughter Lianna in April 2022 through IVF. They also had their second daughter later that year.
Debina has been sharing her pregnancy journey with her fans through her social media posts and discussing topics such as post and pre-pregnancy care for new mothers.
Speaking about her choice of IVF, Debina explained to ETimes that initially, doctors had recommended intrauterine insemination (IUI), which is a less invasive procedure. She said in a recent interview with ETimes, “The fertile days are calculated, and doctors administer a few injections accordingly. A semen analysis of the husband is also performed. However, it didn’t work for me. I tried it five times, but unfortunately, it was unsuccessful.”
She further stated, “IVF was the next best option. The cost of embryo transfer is around ₹30,000, which can vary depending on the hospital. I conceived through IVF. Initially, I was apprehensive, but not anymore. When people ask why I chose IVF, I would say that when something doesn’t happen over a prolonged period, I can’t afford to waste time wondering why it’s not happening. Instead, I took the necessary steps, and after five years, I was blessed with Lianna.”
Debina and Gurmeet also shared the news of their second daughter, Divisha’s birth on November 11, 2022, through a joint Instagram post. They mentioned that Divisha arrived earlier than expected.
Earlier this year, Debina celebrated Lianna’s birthday, sharing pictures and videos from the birthday party on her Instagram page. She wrote, “Our baby turns one, and we had a lot of fun. From a confused-cranky expression to digging her spoon into her delicious and healthy cake, she had a blast. Seeing her happy fills our hearts. Thank you everyone for all the wishes! Since you came into our lives, there hasn’t been a dull moment.”
