Debate on “Towards Carbon Neutral Ladakh” held at GDC Drass

As part of a series of G-20/Y-20 events, Cultural Committee, GDC Drass today organized a debate-cum-discussion on “Towards Carbon Neutral Ladakh: Roles of Individual and Community”.

The program commenced with screening of G-20 promo video on “G-20: one Earth, one family and one future” and a short documentary on “What G-20 Presidency means for India”.

Later, a debate and discussion on the topic “Towards Carbon Neutral Ladakh: Roles of Individual and Community” was held between two groups of college students.

The discussion was aimed to sensitize students’ community about the roles and responsibilities of every citizen of Ladakh and community in making Ladakh carbon free region.

Group A which represented Mohammad Ashraf, Zahir Khan and Mehnaz Anjum, talked on the role of individuals in making Ladakh a carbon-free region.

Similarly, group B included Irfan Younus Naseem Ahmad and Shakila Banoo. They spoke on the role of the community in achieving the goal of a carbon-free Ladakh.

Group B was declared the winner of the debate in the group category. Whereas, in the individual category the First, 2nd and 3rd prizes were awarded to Mohammad Ashraf, Irfan Younus and Mehnaz Anjum, respectively.

College’s incharge Principal, Mumtaz Ahmad appreciated the organizer of the event and student participants for actively participating in the debate.

The program was moderated by Stanzin Stamdin, Assistant Professor English and it concluded with a vote of thanks by Jegmet Sangyas, convener college Cultural Committee.
