A group of 30 women farmers of Rajouri District were today flagged off for a two-day exposure tour to Jammu by Vikas Kundal, District Development Commissioner. The tour has been organized under the Sub Mission on Agriculture Extension (SAME-ATMA).
The women farmers will visit the Directorate of Agriculture Jammu, where they will learn about the most modern techniques in the cultivation of exotic vegetables, organic farming, mushroom cultivation, and beekeeping. The farmers will also visit SKUAST Jammu, where they will interact with agriculture scientists to gain insight about the latest developments in the field of agriculture.
During the flag-off ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with the farmers and encouraged them to learn the latest techniques and methods of farming during the tour. He called upon them to share and disseminate the knowledge gained during the tour among the farmers back home, so they can also adopt the latest agri techniques to improve their farm yields and income.
“This tour is a significant step towards promoting sustainable and profitable agriculture practices among the farmers of Rajouri district,” said the Deputy Commissioner Rajouri.
He also reiterated that by providing exposure to latest trends and developments in agriculture, the tour aims to equip farmers with the knowledge and skills required to improve their productivity and income.
The tour is expected to be a great success and the knowledge and skills gained by the participating farmers will undoubtedly benefit the entire agricultural community of Rajouri district, he added.
Chief Agriculture Officer Rajouri, Sohan Singh and other officers of the Agriculture Department were also present on the occasion.
