DCW Issues Notice to Delhi Police Over Alleged Assault on Minor Girls in Hotels

The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) issued a notice to the city police on Saturday regarding two separate incidents of alleged sexual assault involving two minor girls in the Jagatpuri area of East Delhi.

According to the commission, they have been informed that two individuals, in two distinct occurrences, sexually assaulted two 15-year-old girls multiple times within a hotel. In both instances, First Information Reports (FIRs) have been filed at the Jagatpuri Police Station.

In a written communication, the commission requested the Deputy Commissioner of Police (East Delhi) to furnish details about the actions taken against the hotel where these incidents transpired. The commission inquired whether the suspects as well as the proprietor or manager of the hotel have been apprehended.

Additionally, the commission asked the police to supply a compilation of all FIRs registered in the district from January 2018 to the present date, involving cases of sexual assault against minors and women that occurred in hotels. They stated, “Kindly update us on the status of each of these cases, and provide specifics about the measures implemented by the Delhi Police concerning establishments where instances of sexual assault against minors have been reported.”

Furthermore, the DCW sought a copy of the regulations and guidelines issued by the Delhi Police pertaining to the reservation or accommodation of minors in hotels and guesthouses. They also requested information about the steps taken by the police to ensure the safety of women and minors who stay in such establishments within the city.

The commission granted the police a deadline until August 30 to furnish the requested information.
