Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Saloni Rai on Wednesday conducted weekly block Diwas public outreach programme at Panchayat Ghar, Nagrota Panjgrain, in Block Chanunta to address public issues and demands.
The event witnessed the participation of Additional District Development Commissioner Rajinder Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate Ramnagar, Rajinder Singh, Assistant Commissioner Development Dr. Ranjeet Singh Kotwal and other officers, alongside a large gathering of the general public and former PRI members.
During the programme, the public and former PRI members presented a range of demands and issues, including upgradation of High School Panjgrain to Higher Secondary level, addressing unscheduled power cuts and low voltage in various areas of the block, resolving paucity of drinking water and addressing staff shortages in the PHE sector, construction of protection wall and provision of lights for the playground at Panjgrain Nagrota, establishing government buildings for the Ayurvedic Sub-Centre and Animal Sub-Centre, installation of transformer in the Gari Chowki area.
While interacting with the public, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the primary objective of the outreach programme as a means to gain first-hand knowledge of public issues at the grassroots level. She stated that such initiatives allow the district administration to identify and address multifaceted challenges faced by the public, enabling the formulation of effective strategies through prioritization and optimal resource utilization.
The DC highlighted that these outreach camps bring governance to the doorstep of citizens, improving public service delivery mechanisms.
During the camp, several grievances were resolved on the spot through the intervention of the concerned department officials. For unresolved demands, the DC assured that a structured mechanism would be devised to address them on priority.
