DC Srinagar takes stock of works on under-construction Hostel for wards of Ex-Servicemen/Martyrs at Peerbagh

The Deputy Commissioner(DC) Srinagar, Mohammad Aijaz Asad Monday undertook the site visit of different works being executed on major developmental projects in Srinagar District to inspect the pace of the works for augmentation of healthcare infrastructure at Bone & Joint Hospital and Lal Ded Hospital. He also visited the site for construction of the Hostel for Wards of Armed Forces( Ex-Servicemen)/Martyrs at Peerbagh.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner was accompanied by the Chief Planning Officer, District Social Welfare Officer, Tehsildar South Executive Engineers of R&B, JKPCC, besides concerned Medical Superintendents and other Officers.

At Bone & Joint Hospital, Barzulla, the Deputy Commissioner took stock of the progress of works on Rs 88.95 crore World Bank funded project for construction of 120 Bedded Specialized Orthopaedic Block Including Six Bedded ICU, 2 Private Wards, 12 Bedded Pre OP & Post OP Room, 3 Modular OTs, Radiology, Physiotherapy and Faculty Rooms to augment and upgrade the healthcare infrastructure in B&J Hospital.

On the occasion, the DC took round of under construction building and directed the executing agency to redouble the manpower and work in night shifts also to complete the vital project under the set timeline so that patients are provided better Orthopaedic facilities.

The DC asked the Medical Superintendent B&J, Dr Suhail and other Health functionaries to monitor the progress of works on a daily basis to pace up the speed of works of the ongoing project.

At Lal Ded (LD) Maternity Hospital, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the development works on Rs 132.0 crore project taken up for construction of a new 200-bedded Extension Block of Lal Ded Hospital to overcome the extra burden and heavy flow of patients.

While inspecting the progress on the project, the DC took stock of the pace and progress of works of the project and stressed the JKPCC authorities to accelerate the pace of works to ensure its time bound completion. The DC was informed that as soon as Base Isolators of the project are procured the pace of work on the prestigious project will speed up.

On the occasion, the Medical Superintendent, Lal Ded Hospital, Dr Muzafar Sherwani apprised the DC about the physical status of the ongoing work. He was informed that the five-floor building will have a complete Oncology Department, High End Labour Room, and 4 Operation Theatres and a big Diagnostic Laboratory and Neonatal Unit. In addition, there will be a Ground Plus 5-floors with Parking space, Patients Waiting Lounge, Canteen, New-Born section, hospital equipment and also space for wards.

While interacting with the Hospital Staff, the DC asked them to take immediate measures for façade improvement of the prestigious Hospital of the valley. He also asked them to submit a DPR for face-lifting of the Lal Ded Hospital so that patients, Hospital staff and attendants visiting the Health facility are benefitted.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner also visited Peerbagh to inspect the ongoing works on the Hostel for Wards of Ex-Servicemen/Martyrs being constructed at a cost of Rs 7.44 crore.

On the occasion, the DC was informed that the 100 Bedded Sainik Bhawan comprises of Ground+2 specification with 25 rooms will cater the needs of Wards of Armed Forces (Ex-Servicemen)/martyrs.

The DC asked the officers to accelerate the pace of work and ensure the project is completed within the set dead line.
