DC Samba chairs Road Safety Committee meeting

Deputy Commissioner Samba today chaired a meeting of the District Road Safety Committee here in the mini conference hall and reviewed the implementation of the road safety plan with the stakeholder departments.
The Deputy Commissioner passed on strict instructions to enforcement departments to keep a regular and strict vigil on encroachment along the roads on National Highway, major markets which act as obstruction in smooth flow of traffic and can become a cause of road accidents. In this regard supervisory teams headed by ADC were also constituted and directed to submit action taken in respect of removal of encroachments in Vijaypur, Ramgarh, Bari-Brahmana and Samba areas.
The Revenue and Municipal authorities were asked to identify suitable parking slots within the market areas for streamlining the traffic and avoiding traffic jams.
Discussing the traffic decongestion plan for the Bari-Brahmana area, the DC directed National Highway Authorities to place dividers and bullets to demarcate the two lanes to minimize vehicles from overtaking and creating a mess in view of single lane traffic movement. She also directed concerned authorities to identify and formulate alternate route plans to divert heavy traffic during peak hours till the completion of flyover to avoid traffic congestion in Bari Brahamana.
The ARTO was asked to submit an calendar of activities for spreading road safety awareness to minimize accidents and fatalities in the district.
SSP, Abhishek Mahajan, ADC, Rakesh Dubey, SSP traffic, PD NH Authority, Dysp Traffic, ARTO, EO, Dy CMO, Executive Engineer PWD, representatives from market associations among others attended the meeting.
