Deputy Commissioner Rajouri, Vikas Kundal, today reviewed the status of work on BGSBU road project during an onsite inspection.
The road project is being executed by the Public Works Department (PWD) Rajouri division and upon completion, will benefit around 10,000 people, including students and faculty of BGSBU University by providing them better connectivity.
It is pertinent to mention here that delegations from the adjoining villages of BGBSU had complained to the DC about the sluggish progress of the road.
During the inspection, the Deputy Commissioner noted that there were bottlenecks hampering the smooth execution of work on the project.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the stakeholders to work closely with the concerned officers to remove the bottlenecks and ensure the project’s timely completion. He emphasised that the project’s completion is crucial to provide necessary benefits in terms of connectivity to the public. The Deputy Commissioner also made it clear that any further delay in the completion of the vital project should involve black listing of the contractor.
The 8 km road project is being constructed at a cost of Rs 26 crore and will provide better connectivity to the people of the area. The Deputy Commissioner directed the officers concerned to utilise all necessary resources and manpower efficiently to ensure that the project is completed as soon as possible, as BGBSU Road is a vital link connecting Rajouri with its adjoining villages and the University.
The Deputy Commissioner has appealed to the public to cooperate with the authorities in ensuring the timely completion of the project, which will enhance connectivity and benefit the people of the region.
